The main aim of the International Congress Support Committee (ICSC), composed of members from national and international organizations, is to help radiation protection professionals, especially young ones, from developing countries, to attend the IRPA 12 Congress. Creating opportunities to get professionals attend this event is crucial due to the rapid and significant development in radiation protection and the continuous increase in number and complexity of nuclear and radiation technologies worldwide. Participation of these professionals, will not only allow them to benefit from a renewed scientific programme and refresher training in radiation protection, but more important is their contribution to the debate on how to face the new related challenges and implement the new developments. These will include, inter alia, the implementation of the new ICRP recommendation and also to provide feedback for the revision of the International Basic Safety Standards for Protection against Ionizing Radiation and for the Safety of Radiation Sources (the BSS).

To apply for grants from these international organizations, please follow the steps below:

NO MORE IAEA GRANTS APPLICATIONS CAN BE ACCEPTED

The IAEA General Conference, at its 51st regular session (17-21 September 2007) in resolution GC(51)/RES/11, welcomed the Secretariat’s efforts to ensure the wide participation of developing countries in the forthcoming 12th Congress of the International Radiation Protection Association, “Strengthening Radiation Protection Worldwide” (IRPA 12), and urged the Secretariat to take concrete measures to ensure the early dissemination of information on this event”.

In this respect, and subject to the technical acceptance of your paper and availability of resources, you are kindly requested to fill out and submit through your National Liaison Officer (NLO) the “IAEA Grant Application Form” available at:
http://www-tc.org/tcweb/participation/inmeetings/default.asp,
or as a “word document” on this page or in “Downloads”.

Please note that for each IAEA Member State participating in the Technical Cooperation Programme, a NLO has been appointed. The NLO acts as the focal point for all technical cooperation matters in his/her country. He/she is responsible for developing, supervising, coordinating technical cooperation activities in which the government is involved, including planning, programming and implementation of national, regional and interregional projects through which, subject to availability of resources, your request will be considered. One of the specific responsibilities of the NLO in this regard is to scrutinize the applications for training courses, meetings and conferences before their submission to the IAEA on behalf of the government.

Please do not hesitate to contact Mr. K. Mrabit (k.mrabit@iaea.org) or Ms. K. Connolly (c.connolly@iaea.org) if you need further clarification or assistance.

Note that submission of an abstract does not constitute registration for the Congress. Registration for the IRPA 12 Congress requires completion of the Registration Form and arrangements for payment of fees.
