In this
desert land of high mountains and snow-covered
volcanoes, the "Cordillera de los Andes"
(Andes Mountain Range) reaches the maximum
height of the American continent in the "Cerro
Aconcagua" (Aconcagua Mountain) of 6959
m. In its valleys, all types of intensive
plantations take place that provide the raw
material for an important industry of old
tradition, wine making. To the north, the
"Parque Nacional Ischigualasto"
(Ischigualasto National Park) also known as
the "Valle de la Luna" (Valley of
the Moon)
astonishes its visitors with a landscape of
strange forms carved by erosion. Next to this,
the "Parque Nacional Talampaya"
(Talampaya National Park) presents a deep
canyon with reddish walls of more than 150
m in height. Both conform one of the more
important paleontology deposits of the world. |
